The Rose & the Watercolor
I took this shot about two years ago after I grew the rose (yes, it's a real rose that I plunked on top of the painting) in my garden. I painted the watercolor using the colors of the rose in abstract, hoping to convey the rush of beauty I feel whenever I'm in the garden, but it didn't invoke the same feelings that seeing and smelling the rose did.
I never throw away disappointing art if I can recycle it. Right after I took this shot I cut up the watercolor and used the pieces as quasi-business cards, writing notes and contact information on the back of them for professional friends.
