Swinger

I lightened the exposure on this photo to see if I could better define the orb spider in it, but for better detail click on the image to see the larger version. This critter is about the same size as the palm of my hand, and overnight he built a four-foot web in my daughter's tree swing. She still uses the swing, so he'll have to be (carefully) relocated to the trees at the back of the property.

How cool! It's just amazing to me (as much as I don't care for spiders, but wish them no ill will) how quickly they can rebuild when something happens to their web. I have one, a small spider, never seen it, who keeps building a web between the bell that's hanging from the door frame, and the door frame itself. We hang the wire the dogs use for their run over the arm and although I'm very careful, the girls aren't so much. Often the web is a mess by the time they get done letting the dogs out and yet, within a few hours, is perfect once again.
