Beauty Above

This guy flew over my head while my daughter and I were out on a nature walk. I only got two shots of him (the other is a fuzzier version of this one) but I think he might be a red-shouldered hawk.

He's beautiful!

I'm so glad I can view birds like this vicariously through you. We have two little owls living behind our house and I don't have a good enough camera to get a shot of them when they show their shy little heads.

And rats! I meant to ask, which camera you used? I want a DSLR. Well, I can dream! :o)

I have bats and owls living in the rafters of our place, but they're so shy/fast I can never get a shot of them.

Since last Christmas I've been using the Canon Power Shot SX120 IS for everything. I highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't have a lot of photographic know-how and prefers auto functioning; it works beautifully and (as you've seen) takes pictures in really low light conditions.

I've seen spotted hawks around our property before, but none of them have those pretty red markings.
