I can't tell, but is the metal box beneath it a part of the clock? I have an oak school clock that's well over a century old. It still keeps perfect time. I love old clocks. The ticking is comforting.
The entire apparatus seemed to be one big interconnected mechanism, Theo. I might go back to that shop to get a better pic (the sun streaming through the windows made it tough to get a good angle.)I love old pocketwatches, especially broken ones I can take apart. The works are so tiny and perfect. :)
